[ The last full moon did not go so well for her. Any small bit of digging can indicate that the full moon, in general, is a trying time for the "monsters" of the region. Liliana is determined to weather this one better than the last. Then again, what could be worse than literally dying? Even if she came out of it on the other end.
In some weird, pseudo-dead way.
The day started out normal enough. She's finding it more difficult to wake up in the morning and has taken the habit of spending the first half of the day rolling around in bed until she finds the energy to drag herself out. The fact that one of Chandra's kittens has somehow wiggled its way inside her bedroom despite the supposedly closed door is extra motivation. But the more the day drags on, the more restless she becomes.
So she drinks to calm her nerves--a great coping mechanism, obviously. Chandra can likely feel the anxiousness through their bond as well as the warm welcome of wine down the back of Liliana's throat as she finishes off the bottle. At least she still prefers to drink from the wine class.
Liliana shoos the kitten away with the toe of her boot as she walks out of the kitchen and into the foyer again. She's not pacing--she's. Getting her steps in. ]
[Chandra had been paying very, very close attention to the phases of the moon lately. Not for fear of herself, but more for Liliana's sake. and others, of course. Kaede's chimera change hadn't been fun, and nearly being forced to gut Fang hadn't been either.
Fuck this plane, she thought darkly as she pushed open the door to their house. The bond was making Liliana moody, and she'd come back from training early to check in on her partner. Stooping to pick up the kitten that scampers into the main hall to greet her, she eyes Liliana as she heads out of the kitchen.]
Feeling restless?
[She'd know the signs even without the bond. She's always restless.]
[ The tinge of irritation she sensed from her bond definitely wasn't helping her own anxiety--as if she wasn't already irritated enough. She taps her nails on her wine glass, five times exactly. They've become rather sturdy in the past few weeks, much stronger than they are normally. An odd and ironic side-effect from dying.
She can sense Chandra before she hears her, eyes flickering over to her housemate and the cat. ]
Your pet is very chatty.
[ They both know she couldn't care less about that, nor would it be enough to irk her, but deflecting concern is always her first reaction. At least Liliana is feeling normal enough for that. ]
[Chandra strokes the kitten's head a bit and it seems to calm down. Maybe the little enchantment she put on it to quell it's own restlessness will help some. Probably. But that's cheating.]
Weather's fine. Back to normal summer weather.
[She walks a little closer, head tilted to the side. Her eyes are not exactly 'concerned' but more 'curious']
Have you been getting enough food? I know you haven't been leaving, and that makes sense I guess. [She is more of a homebody.] But I'm not sure the state of the kitchen.
[ Not that she's particularly bothered by the cold at this point--it doesn't seem like the weather much affects her at all. She's been less interested in venturing out during the day, regardless, but having some things set the way she would prefer is a small condolence to an even smaller annoyance. She'll take it.
Still, she knows that Chandra's attempts at care and friendship come from a genuine place...as difficult as that can be for Liliana at times, she is. Trying. In her own way.
By being less prickly than normal. Most of the time.
But not today.
At the mention of food, Liliana gives a small groan and looks at the bottom of her empty glass. ]
If you're asking if there are dishes in the sink, the answer is "no". Though I wouldn't mind a little help.
[ Help meaning, you know, hired help. Although she's used to having that labor for free.
But Liliana did totally eat all of Chandra's crackers, so hopefully she won't mind seeing the cupboard woefully empty when she's feeling like a snack. ]
We're out of cheese.
[ She swirls her empty glass before turning her pacing back to the kitchen. Chandra can follow if she wants. ]
I'll ask around about a cleaning service. Though, did you happen to have any gems or gold on you when you woke up here? I had a couple of pouches, but we may have to stretch it.
[That's Planeswalking 101. Currency is valueless, but gems and gold? Always.]
And the cheese. Sure.
[Making her way around the big prep-table in the center, Chandra meanders to the icebox, fishing around in there for a container of juice. No wine, not after a sweat like she'd worked up.
Note to self, get more of this stuff. Limeade? Nissa would love it.]
Also, how are you feeling?
I know the moon's rising, and last time it did that, this kid Kaede went nuts and tried to tear my head off.
[ Money...is a problem. One that Liliana isn't fond of having. Dabbling in a few of the pinned "questing" assignments might do them some good, but Liliana hasn't bothered much yet, instead reaping the benefits of others hard work and information.
Actual money would be nice, though. ]
It's a little late for that.
[ She's already spent a good portion of it. ]
I've been meaning to see if any of those little paid errands are even worth the time.
[ At least that much is true, even if her efforts have been a little lackluster. She was kind of banking on fucking off from this plane a while ago, but it's become increasingly clear isn't going to be terribly easy. Picking up odd quests for payment is something she's familiar with, but it was definitely a lot easier when she still had her spark. Is she a little nervous? Maybe. But she doesn't let it show.
Well, to anyone who she isn't bonded with.
She is still a bad bitch, spark or not. Just one that's felt like literal death for a while now. It's a fair excuse.
But for now Liliana opens up another bottle of wine. It's clear where some of that initial change went. ]
I'm not feeling any more irritated with this place than normal, if that's what you're asking.
[ Okay, she knows there's a legitimate concern here for...both of their well-beings. Usually Liliana's is what matters most here, but she doesn't exactly want to bring any harm to Chandra. Funny thing, that.
She begins to pour a new glass, but actually gives it a thoughtful pause once it's full. ]
...But, yeah, a little restless. If I start to grow fur and howl at the moon, at least put me outside.
Most of the assignments aren't too bad. I've been doing a few to supplement income here and there.
[Mostly hunting things. Though, Liliana probably could tell that she'd been in and out of the city every so often now.
Liliana's nervousness about it is easy to ignore, though she feels bad for the woman. She just thinks that calling attention to it isn't going to have any positive outcome. Let Liliana be the big, bad bitch. It can't hurt her, because even sparkless she's capable and strong
And that's without crazy vampire powers.
The comment earns a wry, if muted, smile and she gulps down some of the juice.]
...and if you go all werewolf on me, yeah. Sure. But I don't think you're going to.
[It's pretty obvious where things are going for Liliana at this point.]
The bond probably has the urges under control...and I've been feeling less explosive...so we have that going for us. But no itchy gums, or sudden fangs I need to know about?
[ She has noticed and hasn't bothered to ask, really just assuming she's doing something mutually beneficial. Liliana knows she hasn't exactly reciprocated the efforts to the extent she should. Things to work on, probably. At some point.
Not today.
Setting the bottle down, she doesn't waste time downing half of her glass right off the bat. Things may be pointing in the obvious direction, but she really doesn't want to believe it. Liliana has been vexed by a sea of problems, most of her own making, but she's been able to deal with them all. How is this any different?
The scoffs a little at the (unfortunately accurate) joking concern. ]
I did have a cracker stuck between two molars, earlier.
[ Yep, no problems here.
She scratches her upper arm absently. Speaking of itchy... ]
Has that been what's floating around town? What to look out for?
[Chandra walks over and starts rummaging through cabinets, casting a sour look back at Liliana when she sees the empty cracker packet on the counter. You're horrible. At least as horrible as Lex Luthor after he steals 40 cakes.]
I've been at the Coven a lot, practicing. But also researching.
[She sighs. Hating to have to spell this out.]
At least you're a better looking vampire than any of the Falkenraths. Or that Sorin guy.
[ If Liliana was going to feel any remorse about the crackers, the sentiment is gone entirely when Chandra mentions the V word. The word she's been decidedly not saying as if that will somehow make it true. (She's not so naive or foolish to believe in that sort of logic, of course...but still.)
She scoffs, downing the rest of her glass is one go. ]
That's not much competition.
[ But she's also not denying it. ]
I've spent enough time with them on Innistrad to last me several lifetimes. And I really don't feel like their version of playing house.
[ Yes, she remembers seeing how twisted the locals on Innistrad became when the Eldrazi first arrived. Something she'd hoped to ignore for as long as she could. Alas, it never works out that way. ]
There's nothing about a bloody cheesecake that appeals to me right now.
[ That's a good thing, right? Maybe she can avoid the worst of this--
--haha. She continues scratching her arm and when Liliana looks down, she does a double take. Of course she's itchy--she's sprouting a rather healthy patch of dark fur on her forearm. ]
This sucks. Liliana's heart hasn't been beating much at all, but she can feel it jump in her chest with a sudden sense of panic.
No--no. She can handle this. She's faced off against--and won against fucking demons. She's told Bolas to choke on his own Bolas. (Get it?)This is...a temporary inconvenience. ]
...Get me a knife!
[ Apparently she's going to just chop it off.
The hair, not her arm. But she can't stop itching. And the more she does? The more fur seems to grow. ]
A knife?! ...You're not going to cut it off are you?!
[Chandra freezes up, but starts and turns to a drawer, fumbling for a knife and turns with one in hand just in time to see more fur sprouting from her friend's arm. It's short, fuzzy...]
